Miken® Sports Forms Alliance with Hockey Legend Brett Hull
Caledonia, MN - 07/11/11 - Miken Sports, a subsidiary of global consumer products company Jarden Corporation and manufacturer and innovator of high performance sports equipment, announced today that it has formed a strategic partnership with iconic hockey figure, Brett Hull. The former NHL® player and Hall of Famer will serve as an adviser on product development and will play an integral role in the development of the Miken brand in the hockey category.

Earlier this year, Hull joined Miken in creating the Miken-Brett Hull Achievement Award - a scholarship program to benefit youth hockey which awards $10,000 to a deserving player who consistently excels both on and off the ice. The award was announced in conjunction with the 2011 Minnesota Regional and State Hockey Tournaments in March. The Miken-Brett Hull Achievement award is open to players on a national level, and the first scholarship will be awarded in Spring 2012.
Hull currently serves as Executive Vice President of the Dallas Stars NHL hockey team and is a regular in the broadcast booth. He scored 741 regular season goals in his career, placing him third all-time for most career goals in the NHL. Son of former NHL player Bobby Hull, he is a two-time Stanley Cup winner and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009. Hull is widely recognized to have one of the hardest and most accurate shots in hockey history.

New Scholarship to Benefit Youth Hockey
Caledonia, MN -- 03/04/11 - Miken Sports, manufacturer and innovator of high performance sports equipment, announced today a partnership with Brett Hull to create the Miken-Brett Hull Achievement Award, a scholarship program that will provide $10,000 to a deserving player. The award will be officially announced in conjunction with the 2011 Minnesota Regional and State Hockey Tournaments. Nominations will be received throughout 2011, and the first $10,000 delivered at the 2012 tournament.
The Miken-Brett Hull Achievement Award recipient will be selected upon careful consideration of the following criteria: leadership skills, academics, community involvement and hockey ability. The winner may be a stand out student and points leader or a player who is not on a full scholarship but is invaluable to his or her team and community. Coaches, teachers, parents, teammates, community members will nominate candidates throughout the year. Miken Sports will feature nominees on its website and in various advertising campaigns, as appropriate under player eligibility guidelines.

The list of nominees will be narrowed in January 2012 to a select group of finalists. Hull and a designated award committee will then review the list in the final stages of the selection process, and the scholarship winner will be announced in March 2012 at the Minnesota State Hockey Tournament.
